Chokma! Sa holchi'fo'ut Mary Shackleford a seamstress and owner, designer with Handmade Traditions OK. I've been sewing since I was a small child and creating custom Chickasaw Regalia for my family and friends since 2001. Handmade Traditions OK and this website are direct results of the requests I've had for many years to have an on-line presence with my sewing. I love having a personal connection with all the Regalia I create for celebrations, tribal, just plain fun and looks of elegance.
I strive to create quality custom, one-of-a-kind regalia that is personal for each customer that I create for.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, finger-weaving, and snuggling with my grandsons!
I began sewing Chickasaw regalia approx. 20 years ago for my own family. As time went on friends began to ask if I’d sew a dress or shirt for them. As the older tribal members passed on friends of friends would contact me and it grew from there.
I officially started my business around 2012. For the sewing classes, I was approached by a local home-school coop to teach sewing in 2017 and added classes in my home at that time as well. As well as branding, with a new logo. also, all names on social networks have been updated ...
